HUBLI: The next time you're at the old bus terminal at Hubli, don't be surprised if a customer service executive suggests that you step into a premium executive lounge and stretch your legs while you wait to board your bus.
Reaching out to the premium travel segment, the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) will soon offer this facility at the bus terminal to passengers of Airavat, Volvo, sleeper, Rajahamsa and Vajra luxury buses.

So what amenities can you expect at the lounge? For starters, there is comfortable seating, a quieter environment and better access to customer service executives. Depending on the response, a proposal for other services like televisions and air conditioners will be made.
A senior NWKRTC officer says, "We aim to give value-added services and more comforts to premium segment passengers."
He explains that the decision to build an executive lounge was taken keeping in mind the huge flow of tourists and visitors in this business hub of north Karnataka.
The lounge, which is being constructed at a cost of around Rs 8 lakh, will be opened in a few weeks.
Lokesh H, an employee with a private firm, is relieved at the thought of much-needed privacy. "The move has been late in coming. Nevertheless, it'll be helpful to businesspersons, and will allow passengers to relax in private."
Sandesh Abole, a businessman, pointes out that hitherto only those in metro cities and who took the train or a plane could afford to take advantage of the facilities of an exclusive lounge. "It's good to see our city keeping pace with infrastructural developments."
